Our story

To me, food has never been simply fuel. It’s connection. It’s the joining of people. It’s the moment a room fills with irresistible smells, the start of conversations, eyes widening at something beautiful laid before them. It’s that shared happiness when people realise they’re not just being served a meal, they’re being served something created with intention, artistry and heart.

I’ve loved food for as long as I can remember…

Some of my earliest memories are in my both my Grandmothers kitchens. Learning recipes, writing them down and bringing them home to cook for my own family. From layering pretty colours of jellies & fruits with Grandma Olive to walking to the butchers for meats and picking fresh herbs with Granny Win. From purchase to plate, the whole process felt like an adventure. Of course the final reward…getting to sit down together and eat.

That feeling, the joy in the process to the togetherness, never left me.

I’ve worked in restaurants, hotels, cafes & pubs from the age of 14, thriving on the pace & pressure of a busy service.

Eventually that passion grew into something bigger: I opened my own Restaurant in Salcombe, which I proudly ran for five years.

Owning the restaurant shaped me, it taught me the highest level of resilience, creativity, leadership and what it truly means to look after people. At the end of 2019, I made the decision to sell it, unaware of how much the world was about to change.

When Covid arrived, I did what I’ve always done…I fed people.

Roots & Thyme , Born in 2020

I delivered homemade meals to families locally who needed comfort and support and I baked cakes for postal boxes which I sent out all over the uk. What started as a way to help quickly became something more.

Built on community, adaptability and a genuine love of bringing people together, it has organically grown ever since, from intimate gatherings to large events, always with the same intention: to make people feel welcomed, valued and properly looked after.

Cooking for people gives me the greatest joy.

This isn’t just catering. It’s connection.

It’s creating moments people remember long after the plates are cleared.

When you book with us, you’re not just choosing a menu, you’re choosing HEART, experience, and food made with real intention.
